LG Washer - SE Error Code

After starting, the LG washing machine fills in water, but instead of washing, it displays an SE error on the display. The machine drum does not rotate on any of the programs (wash, rinse or spin). The error is typical for LG models:

• with direct drive (Direct Drive);
• belt drive and three-phase silent motor

Often, users of LG cars call this error 5E because of the visual similarity of the letter “S” and the number “5”.

Error Decoding

The code SE means that there is a problem with the motor. For some reason, the motor shaft does not rotate, so the LG washing machine does not spin the drum.

Despite the “harsh” decryption, in fact, the source of the problem may not be at all in the motor, but in another node. The SE error only states the fact of the impossibility of rotation of the motor shaft, but does not report what is specifically faulty. Moreover, sometimes the cause of the error can be a “trifle” problem, which can be fixed independently.

• The electronic module may have failed. Try disconnecting the washing machine from the mains for 10 to 15 minutes, and then plugging it back in and starting the wash.
• Check the tightness of all connections on the motor and the cable loop connection from the motor to the control board. Occasionally, contacts have receded, and it is necessary to correct them.
