the-belt-on-the-samsung-washing-machine-is-falling-off

Have you ever wondered why the drum in a washing machine starts moving, or rather, what exactly makes it spin? It's simple: the drum is connected to the motor via a drive belt, which rotates the drum when the motor starts. Samsung machines are no exception and are designed in exactly the same way. But sometimes there are problems with the belt. Let's figure out why the belt flies off on a Samsung washing machine and what can be done about it?

What causes the belt to slip?

To determine that the problem lies in the belt, you can't do without looking inside the housing. We will now list the most common reasons for the belt slipping off the pulley.

  • Long-term regular overload of the machine. If you use the unit at capacities that it physically cannot handle, sooner or later the belt will slip. If you suspect that this is the reason, simply put the belt back on and reconsider the tactics of using the CM.
  • Belt stretching. If it jumps off the pulley frequently and often when the drum is rotating quickly, the belt is most likely stretched, and you need to buy a new one.
  • Poor motor mounting. If the motor is not mounted properly, it will move periodically, thereby loosening the belt. The problem is solved by carefully securing the motor in place.
  • Poorly secured pulley. Similar to the previous point: the pulley needs to be re-secured.
  • Deformation of the shaft or pulley. Here you will have to replace the deformed element.
  • The crosspiece that connects the shaft to the body of the washing machine is broken. In this case, you will have to replace the part with a new one.
  • Bearing failure. The drum will gradually become warped and move incorrectly, weakening the belt and eventually breaking it.

Another non-obvious reason is the drying out of the belt material. If the machine is not used for a long time and then turned on, the "hardened" belt will not withstand the load on the drum, will burst or "fray".

Do I need to call a specialist right away?

Pulling the belt onto the pulley is quite difficult, it requires a lot of strength and time. Many people simply do not like to mess around with repair work. In any case, if you want to entrust the repair to professionals, it is better to contact a service center. This is better than calling a private repairman for several reasons:

  • You receive a warranty card for all work performed,
  • Services have huge databases of parts, so if replacement is necessary, finding the original element will not be a problem,
  • Certified specialists in the center have extensive experience.

However, it must be said that problems with the belt are considered far from the most difficult and eliminating them yourself is not as difficult as it may seem. The main thing is to try, and then you can always hand the matter over to a specialist.

We put the belt back in place ourselves

Skills, abilities and dexterity in replacing the belt are not particularly necessary. It is more important to be physically strong and powerful, because pulling the belt on the pulley requires the use of great physical force. If you are confident in yourself, you can begin:

  • Disconnect the washing machine from the electrical network,
  • Remove the rear panel by removing the bolts around the perimeter,
  • If you see that the belt has slipped, you need to put it back. First, pull the belt onto the shaft, and then onto the pulley, not completely, but only part of it. Then slowly turn the pulley and simultaneously pull the belt in a circle. If the belt does not fit, you can take a screwdriver and stretch the rubber a little. After that, turn the pulley several times to make sure that the belt is seated properly.

If the belt breaks, you will have to buy a new one first. You need to choose the right one for your washing machine. To do this, write down the model number and go to a home appliance store or service center. The new belt is installed according to the same scheme.

After repair, you can put the back wall back in place and tighten the bolts, and then do a test wash.

We installed a new belt, but it came off.

If you did everything correctly, the belt should not come off, but sometimes it still happens. Why? The reason may be rooted in problems with adjacent elements. It was already mentioned above that deformation of the shaft, pulley or failure of the crosspiece also affects the belt, the matter is complicated by the fact that such deformations are often not visible to the eye. If you encounter the problem of a serviceable belt regularly "coming off", contact a specialist.

Also, do not forget that many breakdowns are caused by banal non-compliance with operating and safety rules. Treat your home assistant with care, and then all its parts will please you with proper operation much longer.
