How to reset error on Haier washing machine
An error displayed on the washing machine display does not always indicate a malfunction. Sometimes the error code is displayed as a result of a system failure. Then a standard reboot helps to “reanimate” the automatic machine.
How to reset an error on a Haier washing machine? How to understand that it is not a breakdown? What to do if the "home assistant" does not respond to turning the programmer and pressing buttons? Let's look into the nuances.
Description of the machine reset procedure
If you notice an error on the washing machine display, do not rush to call a technician. The first thing you need to do is try to complete the cycle with the "Start/Pause" button and run the algorithm again. How it works in practice:
- Press and hold the “Start/Pause” button for 12-15 seconds (until the machine “goes out”),
- For Haier models released 5-7 years ago – turn the programmer to the initial position.
The indicator on the washing machine's dashboard should go out. Then try turning the machine on again using the button. If the washing machine "responds", select the desired program and start the cycle.
In some cases, the above steps may not help. Then you will need to completely reboot the Haier automatic machine. How to reset the settings:
- Scroll the program selector to the initial position,
- Press the “start/pause” button and hold it for five seconds,
- Pull the washing machine cord out of the socket,
- Wait 20-30 minutes.
After a half-hour break, you can check the machine. Plug the power cord into the socket and turn on the device using the button. Start the usual washing mode. If the error repeats, then there really is a problem.
Modern Haier machines are equipped with an accurate self-diagnostic system. The intellect notices a malfunction and notifies the user about it. The machine “talks” through the display or indication. To understand what kind of breakdown the washing machine is informing about, it is enough to look at the control panel, and then at the instructions for the equipment.
Error codes for Haier machines
If a full reset of system settings did not help to get rid of the error notification, then there really is a breakdown. The washing machine display shows a code that needs to be deciphered - it will indicate the malfunction. Machines that are not equipped with a display inform about the failure by flashing indicators.
The user needs to understand what kind of breakdown the Haier washing machine is reporting. However, one error may indicate the failure of different parts, so in some cases a more in-depth diagnosis will be required. Let's look at the main error codes issued by the washing machine.
- UNB. A message informing about an imbalance. An imbalance occurs if the laundry in the machine is bunched up, too few items are washed, or one bulky item is washed. It is very easy to fix the error, just spread the clothes evenly in the washing machine.
- ERR1. This code informs about the door not closing tightly. The locking device does not work, so the machine does not start washing. Probably, you need to press the door harder for the lock to close. Sometimes the reason is a foreign object stuck between the body and the hatch. Another problem may be damage to the UBL - it will need to be repaired or replaced.
- ERR2. The error indicates that the machine is unable to drain the water from the tank within the required 5-6 minutes. Possible causes include: clogged pipes, "garbage can", drainage sleeve, pump, damage to the pump, etc. You will need to check the elements of the drainage system.
- ERR3. This code is displayed when the water in the machine does not heat up to the required degree. The error indicates a breakdown of the temperature sensor, excluding a malfunction of the heating element itself. Sometimes the cause is a damaged control module.
- ERR4. This error also appears when the water in the tank does not heat up. Only in this case, in 90% of cases the heating element is to blame. You will need to remove the heating element from the washing machine housing and test it with a multimeter for breakdown. The resistance produced by the heater must be analyzed. If damage is detected, the part will have to be replaced.
- ERR5. The error appears on the display a few minutes after the cycle has started. It informs that the washing machine cannot fill up in the allotted time. Possible causes: lack of or weak water pressure in the pipes, a closed tap in front of the washing machine, a blockage in the inlet filtration system, a kinked inlet hose, a faulty inlet valve, or damage to the pressure switch. An incorrectly functioning level sensor may inform the "brain" that the tank is empty, while it will be full.
- ERR8. Interpretation of this error: "The washing machine tank is full." In 99% of cases, the "culprit" is the pressure switch. The level sensor sends incorrect information to the electronic unit. Less often, the cause is damage to the control board, namely the semiconductor responsible for controlling the pressure switch.
- ERR9. This code also signals an overfilled tank. Here the error is not false, that is, there is really a lot of water. The reason is a broken inlet valve, it does not work and does not close, so the liquid does not stop flowing into the system. Less often, the "culprit" is a burnt-out control board thyristor, responsible for the operation of the inlet valve.
- ERR10. Another error indicating that the pressure switch is not working properly. The reason will be either damage to the sensor itself or a blockage in its fitting. The pressure switch hose is subject to natural wear. Over time, the fitting wears out and loses its tightness. Pressure problems appear and the entire unit begins to function incorrectly.
If you see an error on the washing machine display, do not panic. First, try resetting the code. If rebooting does not help, proceed to diagnostics and repair of the Haier washing machine.
