How to remove the bottom panel of the LG washing machine

Most often, to diagnose or repair a washing machine, it is not necessary to disassemble it entirely, so do not be afraid to tackle the problem yourself. Often, it will be enough to simply remove the bottom panel of the LG washing machine, which will allow you to access the damaged part. How to do this correctly, what tools are needed for this, and whether there are any special subtleties in this process - we will analyze in detail in today's publication.

Features of removing a narrow panel

LG's front-loading "home assistants" have a narrow plastic panel located directly under the front wall of the washing machine body, which is not only very convenient, but also very quick to remove. To do this, you will only need a Phillips screwdriver, a little free time and our instructions.

  • First, slightly open the hatch that hides the plug of the garbage filter. If you can’t open the hatch with your hands, then try to pry the hatch with a knife, a nail file or any other narrow and sufficiently long object.
  • Find the screw holding the panel next to the dust filter cover and unscrew it.
  • Now you need to take the plastic panel by the edges with both hands and pull it towards you with a little effort. In this procedure, it is very important not to pull too hard, otherwise you can accidentally tear out the emergency water drain hose located near the garbage filter plug.

Once the repair or inspection is complete, the same instructions, only performed in reverse order, will help you install the panel in its place. First of all, be sure to carefully insert the emergency drain hose into its hole and make sure that the panel does not crush the drain sleeve. Secure the panel with latches, pressing on it, and screw the screw back in as the last step. Thus, both dismantling and installing the panel takes only three quick steps that any washing machine owner can handle.

Why remove this element?

Finally, let's answer the question: why remove this panel at all, if most of the parts at the bottom of the washing machine can be inspected through the missing bottom of the body? Although most of the elements are visible through the bottom of the machine, especially if you carefully lay the household appliance on its side beforehand, not every unit of the device can be removed through the bottom.

For example, the snail is clearly visible through the bottom of the case, but it cannot be removed this way, because behind the bottom panel there are two fasteners that can only be unscrewed after dismantling the narrow plastic element. This is why the snail and many other key components of the washing machine can only be removed after dismantling the bottom panel. In this case, the process will look like this:

  • Remove the bottom panel,
  • Unscrew two screws,
  • We remove the pipes from the snail and also unscrew the pump,
  • We extract the snail itself through the bottom of the body.

Ultimately, when making repairs, housewives often simply cannot do without partially disassembling the LG washing machine and dismantling the bottom panel, but there is definitely no need to be afraid of this process, because it takes only a few minutes.
