How to remove a bra bone from an LG washing machine

Any small object that accidentally gets into the washing machine with linen can lead to the most damaging consequences if it is not removed in time. Most often, users do not even worry about such a trifle as a paper clip, a needle or a small bone from a bra because, from the outside, it may seem that these items are too small and do not affect anything. But, if you do not pull out the bone from the bra from the LG washing machine, it alone can disable your favourite service center, which will need complex and expensive repairs. So, to prevent this from happening to you, we wrote this article in which we analyzed the main ways to eliminate bones from household appliances.

Why is this part dangerous for LG SM?

It's hard to believe, but the bone from the bra is considered almost the most dangerous object that can only get stuck in an LG direct drive washing machine. If a metal bone comes out of the bra right during the washing process, it can crawl through the holes in the drum and reach the bottom of the household appliance tank. Why is it so bad?

  • While the drum is rotating quickly, the bone from the bra can stand across the tank, catch on the drum, and break through the plastic tank wall. Because of this, a leak will appear in the machine, which must urgently repair to return the possibility of using the washer.
  • The bone is also capable of getting stuck between the heating element and the drum, so the drum, which is spinning at high speed, will completely tear out the heating element, which will have to be changed.
  • Another bone can break the cuff, and the liquid will flow out of the unit during the operating cycle through the hatch door.
  • And the worst situation is when the bone completely blocks the movement of the drum, because of which the machine gives an error and stops working.

But how do you understand that the bra's bone penetrated the washer tank? First, carefully examine all the underwear and ensure the bone is gone. Next, you need to scroll the drum with your hands in different directions and listen - if a rattle is heard and the drum jams a little, the bone is inside.

Additionally, you can check the drum with a flashlight by examining the bottom through the holes - usually, the bone from the bra is visible to the naked eye.

How to find a bone in the washing machine tank was determined. Now it's time to figure out how to get it. The task will be challenging!

The main methods of extracting a foreign object

It rarely happens that it can catch a bone, even in a typewriter drum. However, if you are so lucky, you should urgently check if the rubber seal along the edges of the door is in order. If the cuff is damaged, it must be repaired or completely replaced. But the damage to the cuff is nothing compared to when the bone falls into the tank.

If such a misfortune happens to you, then first of all, turn off household appliances since washing clothes in a typewriter is forbidden while there is a foreign object. Immediately after that, you should choose the method of extracting the bone. All options can be divided into methods with and without analysis of technology. No matter how strange it may seem, the ways to parse the mechanic at home are easier, so it's better to try to start with them. First, we will describe how to get the bone through the seat of the heating element.

  • We de-energize the CM by disconnecting it from communications.
  • We turn the equipment so you can access the back of the washer.
  • In a situation where your model of equipment has a service hatch, you need to open it. If there is no hatch, you must unscrew the screws and remove the back wall.
  • Inside, you will find a round metal cover for the inverter motor on the tank's back wall.
  • Next, you need to find extensive contacts with wires directly under the engine - this is part of the water heating element we need.
  • The heater is in the tank, but first, you need to disconnect all the wires from the contacts.
  • We unscrew the nut that holds the heating element located between the contacts.
  • At this stage, you should grab the heating element with both hands and gently pull it towards you, slightly shaking the part in different directions.
  • Now, through the hole that appeared after removing the heating element, you need to get the bra bone, most conveniently done with tweezers or a wire with a hook at the tip.

This instruction is relevant for the situation when the bone got to the bottom of the tank, but if it got into the drain pipe, there is no point in removing the heating element because it cannot pull the bone out through this hole. So then, you must remove and clean the drain pipe, for which you must partially disassemble the equipment and get to the bottom of the case. Then, you have to remove the pipe, climb into the washer tank with your hand, and get the bone through the hole that appears. How to do it?

  • Check that the washer is not connected to the water supply and electricity.
  • Move the appliance to the center of the bathroom or a room with much free space.
  • Remove the compartment for powder, gel and other household chemicals.
  • Lay the "home assistant" on its side.
  • Depending on the washer model, either unscrew the screws or remove the clips to remove the bottom.
  • Remove the pipe and clean it.
  • Now, using the same tweezers or wire, remove the bone.

Then it remains only to assemble the machine back according to the instructions in reverse order and install it back on the legs.

Is it possible to disassemble the machine?

In a situation where, for some reason, you do not want to disassemble home appliances at home but you have a lot of free time, you can try to remove a small item indiscriminately. You will need a flashlight, a wire with a hook at the end, and incredible talent with patience.

  • Open the hatch of the machine.
  • Turn on the flashlight and place it in the drum in such a position that it illuminates the bottom of the tank.
  • Next, try to consider the location of the bone from the bra.
  • Having discovered the loss, insert the wire into the hole closest to the bone and try to hook the bone with a hook, which can take half an hour or more.
  • When the bone is hooked, you need to gently rock the drum until the bone is in a vertical position.
  • After that, the drum should be gently rotated so the bra bone gets into any of the holes in the drum, which can also take a long time.
  • At the final stage, it remains only to pick up the bone and pull it out with pliers.

Considering the time involved and the tenacity with which it is necessary to remove the bone with a wire, it is sometimes much easier to partially disassemble an LG direct drive washing machine.

It is better to prevent a problem than to solve it later.

It is much better not to choose between disassembling the machine and using a wire but in advance to prevent a small object from falling into the tank. Every homemaker knows very well that before washing, it is necessary to check all the pockets of clothes so that coins, credit cards, keys, and other items that have no place in the washing machine get inside the drum.

But if everything is simple with pockets, this will only work with underwear if you can disassemble it into its components before each wash. Some even recommend not washing your underwear in the washing machine at all because it wears out more because of this. But suppose you want to avoid washing clothes with your hands. In that case, experts recommend purchasing special containers for washing, thanks to which they will wash the underwear, and foreign objects will not get into the internal components of the washer. Moreover, when using a particular container for a bra, you can keep the shape of the foam cups, so you don't have to worry about your underwear when using such laundry devices.

As a result, you should never panic ahead of time and immediately call the service center wizard if your LG direct-drive washing machine gets a bone from a bra, a paper clip, or other small objects. You will always have time to call a specialist, but first, you should try to cope at home alone because now you have all the necessary instructions.
