When replacing the hatch cuff, users are faced with the need to put a spring on the drum of the washing machine. This is a spring in a sense of the word that is not quite familiar to us. This is the name of one of the two clamps (internal), which holds the cuff on the tank of the washing machine. Not everyone can tighten the clamp and do it correctly the first time. We will try to explain in the article how to do it as simply as possible.
There are quite a few ways to tighten the spring onto the cuff, but most of them are very labour-intensive and time-consuming. Through experience, ordinary users and craftsmen have found the most ergonomic and simple method of tightening the clamp onto the cuff.
Many washing machines have a removable front panel. For example, Bosch, LG, Samsung models. If it is possible to dismantle the front panel, experts recommend using it, as this will significantly simplify the process of installing the clamp. However, dismantling is not at all necessary; you can change the cuff without it. Since many machines in use do not have a removable front panel, let's consider how to put the clamp on the cuff without this action.
When everything is ready, you can take out the screwdriver and secure the cuff with the outer clamp. Then put the machine in its original position and that's it.
A common reason for replacing the cuff is damage to its lower part. Water begins to leak into the hole, and eventually the machine leaks liquid. However, in this case, it is not necessary to change the cuff, you can move it so that the hole is located at the top, the problem will be solved, and you will not have to spend money on a new part.
Some people try to twist the cuff directly on the tank, only by opening the hatch door. This way you will not achieve anything, since the part is secured with two clamps: internal and external. You will have to perform certain manipulations before moving the cuff.
Now fasten the clamps in the reverse order: first the inner one, then the outer one. Feel the cuff with your hands, check if the rubber seal itself and both clamps fit into the groove correctly. Close the hatch of the washing machine. If there are no problems, then everything is done correctly.
Choose your repair tools carefully. Avoid very sharp screwdrivers and other objects that can make the hole in the seal even bigger, because then turning it over won't help, and you'll have to buy a new seal.
