How can you tell if a bearing is worn out?

Checking the bearing assembly without completely disassembling the washing machine is almost impossible, at least if you do not have many years of experience in repairing household appliances. This is due to the fact that bearings at the initial stage of destruction practically do not signal their imminent failure, so most likely you will still have to disassemble the Samsung washing machine. However, there are a number of peculiar signals that you should pay attention to in order to detect a problem in the bearing assembly in advance.

• The appearance of extraneous sounds during the operating cycle of the automatic control system. It is almost impossible to detect a strange noise during the spin cycle, given the overall high noise level, but during washing and rinsing it is easy to hear extraneous sounds. Most often this is a grinding sound, an uncharacteristic knocking and strange metallic sounds.
• Poor quality spin. Due to the fact that the drum cannot rotate at the speed specified by the user, things will also not be able to effectively get rid of excess moisture.
• Excessive vibration during operation. Due to damaged bearings, the machine begins to suffer from poor balancing. As a result, the equipment begins to sway more and even bounce in place.
• Damaged rubber seal. If during diagnostics you find damage to the rubber, this may also be an indirect signal that the bearing assembly is not in order.

There is another way to check the bearings, for which you need to disconnect the device from the power supply, open the hatch, press the upper part of the drum with your finger and shake it. The point is that the drum must move synchronously with the tank without play. If during this test you feel unbalanced, then with almost one hundred percent probability the bearing assembly has begun to collapse.

After the first check, you need to strongly spin the drum with your own hands. If it spins freely and makes a slight hum, then everything is fine. But if the movement of the drum is accompanied by a lot of noise, and the drum itself rotates unstably, then this is another reason to buy new bearings and install them instead of the damaged ones. Most often, the element fails during active use, but manufacturing defects cannot be ruled out.
