The fact is that such devices are not of high quality, so they break quickly. At the same time, the tap is designed for a certain number of openings/closings. In this regard, a completely reasonable question arises: how to replace a tap for a washing machine that has started to leak?

What kind of faucet do you have installed?

In most cases, craftsmen install a ball valve. There are three main types of such valves.

For example, a through tap can be installed, which has special holes on both sides. On one end, this tap is connected to the water pipe, on the other side, the inlet hose of the washing machine is connected to it.

Another type of tap is a tee tap or, in other words, a three-way tap. This product is distinguished by the fact that it has three inputs and outputs. One hole is intended for the inlet hose of the washing machine, and the other two are responsible for combining the water supply outlets into a single structure.

The corner valve system is similar to the through fitting, there are features that correspond to these elements. Specialists use this valve to divide the pipe into two parts that are at a right angle.

This component is used in the process of installing a toilet, although craftsmen also use the tap for washing machines that are connected to the system in a non-standard way. Together with the tap, the kit includes seals, special nuts, and handles. Rotary handles are designed to shut off the water. The component is attached to the part with a special nut, the system is very simple.

We remove the old tap and install a new one

Before buying a new faucet, you need to inspect the old one. Experts recommend buying a similar option so that there are no problems with replacement. However, it is best to buy a high-quality, reliable and expensive fitting so that you do not have to change it again after some time. First of all, you need to select an open-end wrench, it must match the parameters of the nut. But you can also use an adjustable wrench. You will also need FUM tape during the work.

The instructions for replacing the faucet look simple.

 

• First, you should disconnect the washing machine from the mains and then turn off the water.
• It is best to unscrew the plastic nut manually so as not to break the product. Place a basin in the place of disassembly.
• You can unscrew the nuts using an adjustable wrench; the old tap can be removed in the same way.
• Before installing the purchased tap, you need to clean the threads from the stuck dirt. Only after that you can put on the seals and wind the tape.
• Next, we install an expensive faucet, the handle of which should be in the “Closed” position.
• A plastic nut must be screwed to the free outlet; it is directly connected to the filling hose of the device. It is best to do this manually so as not to damage the plastic, otherwise it may burst.
• At the very end, it is worth checking the operation of the tap, it should not leak. A leak may appear after some time, so you need to set aside at least fifteen minutes for checking. If the tap is leaking, you need to turn off the water, unscrew the tap, change the winding and put the tap back in.

The replacement is successful if everything is dry at the work site and the tap opens/closes perfectly. Experts advise installing an expensive, high-quality and reliable tap, then the product will last for a long time.
