Why does the washing machine turn itself off?

It happens that users who run a wash find that the automatic machine has turned off without completing the cycle. Pressing the start key again has no effect. What to do in this case? First, let's figure out why sometimes the washing machine turns off by itself. Next, let's talk about the most common reasons. Finally, let's find out whether it is possible to reanimate the machine yourself.

What problems could arise?

Before fixing the problem, you must find out what happened to the washer. Most often, the automatic machine turns off due to problems with the electricity supply. Without current, the home assistant cannot function. Therefore, first, you must check all the elements responsible for the device's power.

Do-it-yourself repairs should begin by checking the obvious things. To get started, make sure:

  • Whether the electricity supply is turned off in the house or room where the automatic machine is installed,
  • Does the outlet work where the washing machine is connected,
  • Whether there are any damages on the machine's and the plug's power cord.

Such breakdowns are easy to fix with your own hands. Other possible reasons are also possible, for example:

  • Malfunction of the main control module,
  • Sticky network key,
  • Interference filter failure.

Often you can fix the problem yourself. However, sometimes the help of service center specialists is required (for example, if the control module breaks down). In any case, start with the diagnosis of the washing machine.

We check the electrician.

Most often, the reason for the sudden shutdown of the washer is banal - the lack of electricity supply. So first, press the switch to ensure light in the room. Next, inspect the electrical panel; it probably knocked out plugs.

Often the washing machine turns off due to an overload of the mains when several powerful appliances work simultaneously. Disconnect other household appliances and start the automatic machine again.

Sometimes the reason may be in the triggered RCD. So, having fixed the high voltage in the network, the device turns off the washer. It is necessary to eliminate intra-network breakdowns.

At the next stage, inspect the outlet and ensure there are no signs of burning and melted areas on it. If there is, then the contacts are likely to burn out. Then, I will have to repair the point.

When the outlet looks normal outside, try plugging in another household appliance. For example, a hair dryer or iron. If the equipment works, everything is in order with the electric point.

Having the necessary experience and knowledge, you can fix the outlet with your own hands. However, it usually melts due to a short circuit or damaged contacts. Therefore, when changing the case, it is better to prefer ceramic devices - they are stronger and better than plastic ones.

Noise filter

If everything is in order with the electricity supply and the outlet is working. Therefore, the reason is in the washer itself. Then, diagnostics of the automatic machine is carried out from simple to more complex, starting with the mains wire and noise filter and ending with the control module. Finally, we will tell you how to check the details with your own hands.

The noise filter is connected to the power cord. To check these details, you need to:

  • De-energize the SMA,
  • Turn off the tap responsible for supplying water to the machine,
  • Move the washer away from the wall and furniture to provide free access to all sides of the case,
  • Remove the top of the washer by unscrewing the two bolts holding the cover,
  • Find a surge protector (it is installed closer to the back of the case, at the point where the power cable is connected),
  • Loosen the fasteners that secure the power cord,
  • Remove the interference filter and the main cable from the housing.

Next, inspect the surface and plug in the cord. If there are no defects, it is necessary to check the wire with a special device - a multimeter. Finally, switch the tester to resistance measurement mode and connect the probes. The display should show zero - the device is working and ready for use.

Set the multimeter to buzzer mode. After that, ring the tester of the core of the network wire. Contact between them and the device will emit a characteristic sound. The silence of the device will indicate a cord malfunction.

Once you find out that the wire is defective, do not try to repair it with electrical tape or twisting. Otherwise, the closure may repeat. Instead, buying and installing a new power cord is safer and more reliable.

The noise filter is also checked with a multimeter. The tester probes switched to the buzzer mode, are applied to the terminals of the device. If a squeak is heard, you can proceed to the next step - measuring the resistance. When the device outputs 0 or 1, it must change the FPS. You should buy an interference suppression filter similar to the dismantled one to replace it.

It is better to entrust the diagnostics and repair of the control module to specialists. You need certain skills and knowledge to work with an electronic unit. Otherwise, you can only aggravate the situation.
