Why does the washing machine make a lot of noise when rinsing

Why does the washing machine make a lot of noise when rinsing

A slight noise during the operation of the automatic machine is normal. For example, when rinsing, the washing machine constantly turns on the pump, which pumps out water while making sounds. It is worth sounding the alarm if the hum has become stronger than before. Then, we can talk about a breakdown.

Let's figure out why the automatic machine buzzes a lot when rinsing. What problem does the noise indicate? Then, we will tell you how to fix the problem yourself.

Clogged main CM filter

If the washer makes a lot of noise when rinsing, you should pay attention to the drain filter. Perhaps a foreign object (coin, key, paper clip) got into the trash bin. In this case, the operation of the pump's impeller becomes difficult, and the machine starts to make noise.

The drain filter traps all the debris that enters the drainage system of the washing machine. Therefore, it is very easy to check and clean the plastic coil. The procedure will take, at most, 5-10 minutes.

Where is the garbage? Most washing machines have a drain filter located at the front, in the lower left corner. It is hidden behind a technical hatch or a false panel. The algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • De-energize the SMA,
  • Disconnect the automatic machine from the water supply and sewerage,
  • Move the washer away from the wall,
  • Open the technical hatch door or remove the lower bezel (a thin screwdriver will help to cope with the latches),
  • Slightly tilt the body of the washing machine back to raise the front by 5-10 cm,
  • Place a container under the machine in the area of \u200b\u200bthe drain filter to collect water,
  • Using an emergency drain hose, remove the water accumulated in the system (remove the plug from the pipe and direct its end into the basin),
  • Unscrew the plug of the garbage filter half a turn, and wait until the water drains into the container,
  • Pull out the filter element.

After that, the filter should be cleaned and washed in warm water. You can soak it in a concentrated citric acid solution for a couple of hours. It is impossible to process plastic with boiling water - it can deform. Next, pay attention directly to the seat.

Shine a flashlight into the hole - remove all foreign objects from the machine. Then wipe the seat walls with a clean, damp cloth to remove dirt. In-depth, you can see the pump's impeller - if hair and threads are wrapped around the blades, remove them from the part.

After cleaning, you can put the drain filter in place. Make sure the spiral is straight after you need to run a test wash. If there is no leakage, then the installation of the garbage bin is done correctly.

Blockage in the drain hose

The cause of a strong hum when rinsing can be a clogged drain hose. The garbage filter is often clean, and the base of the drain sleeve is clogged. In this case, water goes into the sewer in a thin stream, the pump works at increased loads, and the machine makes more noise.

The tap water quality in many regions of Russia leaves much to desire. But, unfortunately, the impurities in it gradually settle on the walls of the drain hose, clogging it. In the end, a cork forms in the groove, preventing the normal waste liquid removal from the washer tank.

In addition to noise during operation, this situation is fraught with an early failure of the pump. The pump works under more load, pushing water through the blockage. Therefore, it is logical that the part will break faster if the hose is not cleaned.

To remove the washing machine drain hose:

  • De-energize the washer, disconnect it from communications,
  • Drain the remaining water from the system by unscrewing the garbage filter,
  • Lay the machine on the back wall (this will allow you to get to the place where the drain hose is attached),
  • Remove the clamp with which the sleeve fix on the machine,
  • Pull the hose and remove it from the body of the washing machine.
  • When pulling the drain hose out of the housing, it is important not to damage the plastic latch. Next, you can start cleaning the pipe. For this:
  • Prepare a concentrated solution of citric acid (dilute 30-50 grams of powder in 1 litre of water),
  • Soak the drain hose for 1-2 hours in the resulting solution,
  • Rinse the sleeve with warm water.

After cleaning, the drain hose is connected to the washing machine. Next, a test wash is activated. Again, watch the work of the home assistant - if it was a blockage, then a strong hum will not happen again.

Checking and replacing the pump

Worst of all, if the cause of a strong hum when rinsing is in the pump itself. The first thing to check is the pump impeller. To do this, unscrew the plug of the garbage filter and shine a flashlight into the hole formed. Next, inspect the blades - they should be intact.

Next, the stroke of the impeller is checked. Try checking it out. The part should move, but not freely, but with little effort. Next, you may need to clean or replace the pump itself. To do this, you need to get close to the details. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

  • De-energize the washing machine, disconnect from the water supply and sewerage,
  • Lay the washer on the floor on the left side,
  • Remove the bottom of the case,
  • Find the pump - it is located immediately under the tank.

Before changing the pump, it is recommended to check it. The drain pump is diagnosed with a multimeter. If the tester shows that the part is defective, the element must be replaced and cannot be repaired.

It is necessary to buy a new pump, focusing on the model and a serial number of the washing machine. You can also dismantle the old element and pick up a similar spare part in the store. The drain pump is installed in reverse order.

If the multimeter does not detect a problem, it will probably be enough to clean the pump. However, dirt also accumulates in its body. Could you take out the pump and disassemble it? After removing the debris, put the part back and run a test wash.
