Siemens washing machine does not turn on

It is unpleasant when a Siemens prepared for washing does not turn on. The equipment is connected to the power supply, the powder is poured in, the laundry is put in, the door is closed, but the “Start” button is not pressed. The instrument panel does not light up and the machine does not respond to user commands. You can understand why a Siemens washing machine does not turn on without calling a technician. You just need to check a few elements using our instructions.

Most likely problems

It is logical that a dim dashboard indicates problems with the power supply. In simple words, there is no current flowing into the washing machine and the system cannot start. Several reasons can lead to this behaviour from Siemens:

  • There is no electricity in the room,
  • The electricity supplied to the equipment is unstable, the voltage reaches critically low or high values,
  • The siemens power socket is broken or de-energized,
  • The power cord is damaged (the plug has melted, the insulation has deteriorated),
  • The network interference filter (fps) has been knocked out,
  • There were problems with the “start” button (burnt out or stuck),
  • The control board has failed.

To restore the functionality of the equipment, it is necessary to check the electronics and electrics. There is an open circuit somewhere inside or outside Siemens. The instructions on what to do are quite simple: sequentially inspect all failures. It is better to start with something simple – central power supply.

Circuit

More often, the reason for the lack of power is trivial - there is no light in the room or the entire apartment. Especially if the washing machine is in a country house or a sparsely populated area where problems with electricity periodically arise. Therefore, the first thing we do is flip the switch, checking whether there is power supply in the room.

If there is no light, then pay attention to the panel: are the machines activated, are the plugs burnt out. Due to the overload, the residual current device (RCD) tripped, so for safety reasons the line was automatically de-energized. It is better to recalculate the voltage consumed by home appliances and adjust the load on the network by temporarily turning off several devices.

The next step is to check the serviceability of the outlet. The following signs will indicate problems with the point:

  • Smoke,
  • The smell of burning,
  • Melted plastic,
  • Dark spots around the outlet.

If the socket is externally intact, then we move on to checking it internally. It is enough to plug in a working device, hair dryer or phone charger. Do you have contact? Then the breakdown occurred in another place.

A faulty socket requires repair and adjustment of the load supplied to it. It is necessary to eliminate the possibility of a re-circuit by no longer turning on too powerful devices and connecting the terminals securely. It is not difficult to replace an electrical outlet with your own hands, but if you lack experience, it is better to contact a specialist.

FPS

If there are no problems with the power supply outside Siemens, then you will have to do internal diagnostics of the washing machine. We are talking about three elements: a power cord, an interference filter, and an electronic board. Let us check the first two first. On Siemens washing machines, the FPS and the cord are connected, and therefore are checked immediately. We proceed like this:

  • Disconnect equipment from communications (sewage, water supply and power supply),
  • Unfold the siemens with the back panel facing forward,
  • Unscrew the top cover of the machine,
  • At the back wall we find a capacitor located in the lower left corner,
  • Loosen the bolts holding the fps,
  • Remove the filter from its fasteners and pull it out of the housing along with the power cord.

First, the plug is inspected for melting and other signs of fire. Next, we test the cord for breakdown by connecting the multimeter probes to it in buzzer mode. The main thing is to first check the device itself by connecting the sensors together. If “0” appears on the display, it means it is working.

A damaged cord must be replaced with a new one. Attempting to carry out repairs yourself using electrical tape or twisting is unacceptable - it is unsafe. There is a high probability of repeated current leakage followed by fire or short circuit. Next, we test the noise filter with a multimeter in buzzer mode. We immediately measure the resistance. If the value displayed on the display is far from normal, it means the capacitor has burned out. The replacement procedure is simple: we buy a new FPS, focusing on the Siemens serial number, and install it in place of the old one.

Electronic brain

It is rare, but it happens that the washing machine does not turn on due to a broken control board. The electronic unit on Siemens is a complex mechanism, having many microcircuits, tracks, “legs” and sensors. Only a professional technician can determine exactly where the failure occurred. However, some problems can be easily noticed at home by carefully examining the module. To assess the condition of the board, you need to disconnect it from the case. The instructions are as follows:

  • Disconnect the washing machine from communications,
  • Remove the dispenser,
  • In the “nest” freed from the powder receptacle, find and unscrew two screws,
  • Loosen four more screws holding the dashboard,
  • Grab the panel, lift it by snapping the plastic latches, and disconnect it from the body,
  • Using a screwdriver, disassemble the panel,
  • Remove the board.

It is better not to unhook the wires! Reconnecting the terminals will be problematic. Lived a lot, the markings are understandable only to professionals, and the cost of a mistake is too high. You are only allowed to inspect the board yourself. If everything is in order outwardly, then contact the service. There are hidden breakdowns that only a professional can handle.
