Program failure in the Candy washing machine

Program failure in the Candy washing machine

Automatic machines produced under the Candy brand sometimes suffer from erroneous washing modes. This is due to the not reliable firmware of the equipment and weak electronics.

The problem of Kandy washing machine program failure is of great concern to users. Usually, it is impossible to launch the most “favourite” modes, which are selected most often. Let us figure out what to do in this case, what can cause problems of this kind.

Universal ways to solve the problem.

What to do if the washing mode that runs more often than others has gone wrong? There is no need to immediately call a service center technician or try to disassemble the machine yourself and get into the control module. First, you should try to restore the functionality of the equipment in the most harmless way.

To reboot the hardware, follow these steps:

  • Turn off the machine by pressing the power button,
  • De-energize the machine,
  • Wait 20-30 minutes. During this time, the system will be “updated,”
  • Turn on the machine and try to run the desired washing program again.

If this method does not help, you can try running self-diagnosis. All modern washing machines are equipped with this function. Intelligence alternately checks one element of the system after another, finding “weak spots.” In ten percent of cases, the machine will even be able to fix the problem. In the remaining 90% of situations, it will indicate a malfunction, which will also save your time and tell you in what direction to think next.

To activate the diagnostic mode, you must:

  • Move the program switch knob to position 1 and press the “On” key,
  • Turn the programmer to position 2, turn off the washing machine,
  • Put the selector back in the first position and turn on the machine,
  • Then quickly scroll to position 3, turn off the equipment again,
  • Bring the handle to position 1 and start the equipment,
  • Turn to the “Drain” mode. The diagnostic mode is thus activated.

Everything must be done quickly so that the pause between switching programs is no more than three seconds, otherwise it will not be possible to start diagnostics. When the test is completed, the machine will display a fault code. By deciphering the error using the instructions, you can understand what failure occurred in the system. Washing machines without a screen will notify you of a breakdown by flashing the display on the control panel. After this, the progress of further equipment repairs is planned.

Electronic module problems

If the failure repeats even after rebooting the equipment, and the self-diagnosis system cannot understand why this is happening, you will have to check the “brain” of the machine. It will not be possible to diagnose the control module without sufficient experience and knowledge. For these purposes, it is advisable to invite an expert.

If you have skills in working with electronics, you can try to carry out diagnostics yourself. The algorithm of actions to get to the control board will be as follows:

  • Remove the top cover of the machine by unscrewing the screws securing it,
  • Remove the powder receptacle,
  • Unscrew the bolts holding the control panel.

When the control module is in sight, you need to check all its contacts and wires one by one. First, the start button is tested. If any element of the board is in doubt, it is better to change it.

If neither a visual inspection of the control board nor a full diagnostic reveals any problems with the module, you need to think further. You will have to check the internal elements of the machine - suddenly a malfunction of one of them leads to a failure of the washing programs.

We are looking for an unexpected culprit.

Often the cause of the “whims” of the Candy washing machine is a damaged heating element. The intelligence understands that it will not be possible to heat the water to the temperature set by the user, so it refuses to start the mode. To fix the problem yourself, you will have to check the heating element, clean it, or replace it if necessary.

Limescale deposits interfere with the thermal conductivity of the heater. Therefore, if the layer is too thick and it cannot be cleaned off, it is better to replace the element.

Another likely cause of program failure is a faulty engine. It is better to entrust engine diagnostics to an experienced technician. The specialist will check the stator and rotor windings of the motor with a multimeter and tell you whether repairs are required or whether it is more advisable to replace the part.

A “burnt out” or “clogged” drain pump can also be the cause of equipment “whims.” It is necessary to inspect the pump, clean it of debris and check it with a multimeter. If the tester screen displays the value “0” or “1”, it means that the “motor” has burned out due to a short circuit, and the element must be urgently replaced.

Anything can be the cause of a mode failure on a Kandy machine. Sometimes these are just minor software errors that can be resolved by simply rebooting the hardware. Also, this situation may be a “symptom” of damage to the internal components of the equipment.

You should start “fixing” the machine with the simplest thing, by trying to reboot the system. Afterwards, it is advisable to run self-diagnosis; the machine itself will indicate the element that has failed. And then carry out repairs on the heating element, motor, pump or control module.
